The Implantable Contact Lens: Another Eye Correction Option at Our Toronto and Oshawa Facilities

Dr. Navdeep Nijhawan offers treatment with ICL™s (Implantable Contact Lenses) at his Toronto and Oshawa offices. A foldable ICL™ is implanted in the eye to help reduce or eliminate your farsightedness or nearsightedness. With an ICL™, the surgeon doesn’t need to reshape the cornea. Instead, a small incision is made and the contact lens is inserted in front of the pupil in order to correct the vision problem.

The Implantable Contact Lens becomes a permanent component of the eye; it does not get lost, nor does it have to be replaced like glasses and regular contact lenses. ICL™ procedures may be appropriate for severely nearsighted and farsighted patients who are not candidates for LASIK or PRK. Unlike laser vision correction procedures that permanently change your vision, it is possible to later remove an Implantable Contact Lens.

You may be considered a candidate for ICL™ if:

In addition, Implantable Contact Lens patients at our Toronto and Oshawa locations must be at least 18 years of age, with high levels of myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism that are too severe or not safe for laser eye surgery.
